Living Accommodations
Residence hall accommodations are available to all international students. Seventy-five percent of all MU students live on-campus. Our residence halls are managed by full-time professional staff members as well as part-time student staff. Residence hall students are responsible for self-government and develop social and educational programs.
Our residence are very clean and well maintained. All on campus housing is within easy walking distance to other campus buildings as well as in town dining and shopping. All rooms are furnished with beds, mattresses, dressers, desks (with desk chair and lamp), closets, cable-television access, and computer network connections. All students provide their own bed linens, pillows, blankets, waste baskets, hangers, and any other items necessary depending on your individual needs and preferences. Students are also responsible for cleaning their individual rooms. Custodian services are provided for the common areas of the halls.
Campus Dining
Manser Dining Hall is the main (and only) dining facility at MU. The dining service provides meal plans that vary depending upon students eating habits. All students living on campus are required to participate in the university dining program.

There is no required dress code at MU. Students generally dress informally and comfortably. Women often wear skirts, blouses, and sweaters using the layer concept in winter. However, slacks, jeans, and shorts are the usual classroom attire. Low or flat-heeled shoes, sandals, and sneakers are popular footwear. Men generally wear sport shirts, t-shirts, slacks, jeans and shorts to class. For special occasions, women may wear semiformal dresses, suits or dress pants. Men may wear jackets and slacks or suits and ties.
You will also need rain gear, hat or cap, gloves or mittens, and a heavy overcoat for the winter months. You should bring what clothing you can since clothing can be somewhat expensive.

Methods of Instruction
All classes at Mansfield are conducted in English. If you have difficulty with the language, you should consider taking an English as a Second Language (ESL) course prior to enrolling at Mansfield.
Most instruction is organized and conducted in one of three methods: lecture classes, seminar discussion groups, and laboratories. Instructors usually require the purchase of a specific textbook which will supplement lectures.
Seminar/discussion classes are generally small classes where students participate in discussions guided by instructors.
Laboratories offer students hands-on experiences that supplement the classroom lecture. Laboratories are most common in the science, math and foreign language curriculums.
